Returns & Refunds

Last updated: 5 September 2026

The short version: if you had it engraved, it was made for you and we cannot take it back unless it is faulty. If you did not, you have 14 days to change your mind. Faulty goods are always covered either way.

1. Engraved items cannot be returned

Where you supply engraving text — a name, initials or a monogram — the item is made to your specification and is clearly personalised. Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 in the UK, and the Consumer Rights Directive (2011/83/EU) in the EU, the right to cancel does not apply to such goods.

We are telling you this before you buy, as we are required to. Once you place an order with engraving text, you lose the right to change your mind.

This does not affect your rights if the item is faulty, damaged or not as described. See section 3.

2. Items without engraving: 14 days to change your mind

If you leave the engraving field blank, the item is not personalised and you have the full statutory right to cancel.

Choosing a colour does not count as personalisation. Selecting Brown rather than Green is choosing from a range we offer, not specifying a bespoke product, and it does not remove your right to cancel.

  • You have 14 days from the day you receive the goods to tell us you are cancelling.
  • You then have a further 14 days to send them back.
  • We refund within 14 days of receiving the goods back, or of proof that you sent them, whichever is sooner.
  • We refund the price plus standard outbound delivery. If you chose a faster delivery option, we refund the standard cost, not the premium.
  • You pay the cost of return postage unless the item is faulty.

You may handle the goods as you would in a shop. If you handle them beyond that and their value is reduced, we may deduct that reduction from your refund.

To cancel, email info@echoedleather.com with your order number. A clear statement is enough; you do not have to use a particular form.

3. Faulty, damaged or wrong items — always covered

This applies to every item, engraved or not.

If what arrives is faulty, damaged in transit, not as described, or not what you ordered, tell us within 14 days at info@echoedleather.com with photographs. We will arrange a repair, replacement or refund at no cost to you, and we pay return postage.

Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 you have 30 days from delivery to reject faulty goods for a full refund, and rights beyond that period.

An engraving error we made is a fault. If we engraved something other than what you submitted, that is on us and we will replace it. If the text you submitted contained the error, section 4 of our Terms applies.

4. What is not a fault

Full-grain leather is a natural material. Variation in grain, tone, scarring and markings between hides — and between your item and the photographs — is characteristic of the material and is not a defect. Leather also darkens and softens with use; that is the material behaving as intended.

5. How to return something

  1. Email info@echoedleather.com with your order number and what is wrong, or that you are cancelling.
  2. We reply with the return address and instructions. Please do not send anything back before you hear from us — returns sent to the wrong address may not reach us.
  3. Pack the item so it arrives in the condition it left. We recommend a tracked service; until it reaches us it is your responsibility.

6. Refunds

Refunds go back to the payment method you used. Bank processing times are outside our control.
